The story of our first official POP UP May 16-20, 2018
our first rule
Our very first Pop Up, like our brand name, was inspired by The Elements of Style by William Strunk, Jr. and E.B. White. The first rule of usage from The Elements of Style is: “form the possessive singular of nouns by adding ’s.”
We believe that style comes from the individual; in order to wear GRAMMAR shirts one must first make them one’s own.
three new styles
We launched three new styles for the Pop Up: a double-breasted crop, a tie-sleeve tee, and a modern peasant top.
We engaged Forge, an experience design consultancy, to create the concept for the space. The key intervention was the curved yellow curtain; it transformed the white-box space, acted as a colorful contrast to the white shirts, and created a unique dressing room experience.
Most of the elements in the space were custom-made for the Pop Up. From the 8'x4' mirror to the hangers, every detail was considered and crafted.
Althea worked with her brother to design the rack and hangers for the space. William Simons is a ceramic artist and sculptor pursuing his MFA at RISD. He also created the beautiful ceramic pieces in the space.
Althea worked with longtime friend Susanna Taylor to naturally dye the GRAMMAR signature white organic cotton poplin to a brilliant yellow using osage and turmeric.
We celebrated the opening of the Pop Up with an intimate dinner for our brand ambassadors.
Close friends of the brand were the first to see & shop the new styles.
Chef Carolina Santos Neves served inspired vegetarian bites.
Thank you to everyone who came to the pop up throughout the week. We love nothing more than seeing you wear GRAMMAR your way!
